Photo of the Year

 THE RESULTS!

Congratulations to our winner of the Wedding Photograh of the Year who is....

 Logan Sangster of Deeside Photographics

Logan came first place in the competition which recieved over seven thousand votes from our readers all over the UK. Logan says he likes the photo because it is a classical, atmospheric, and romantic style photograph, and believes it received the most votes because it is timeless and nicely lit... An image that our future brides would perhaps like on their wall.

Winner of the photo competitionLogan modestly gives much praise of his photograph to its subject - the Bride. "She was beautiful both on the outside and the inside. They were both keen hill walkers, so the wedding cake was a replica Munro (Scottish Mountain) -complete with rucksack, crampons and the dog.

Logan says "I have been a photographer for over 20 years and still LOVE my job! I have met some wonderful Brides & Grooms over the years, some who have become firm friends. I get to work in outstanding Scottish Castles and Country houses that makes the experience even better. I also take family photographs for HM The Queen, and the Royal family, whilst they are in residence at nearby Balmoral Castle."

Logan believes You must meet your photographer first to make sure  he or she has the right personality to make the Bride & Groom feel relaxed, at ease, and enjoy their photography.

Winner of the photo competitionThe winning photograph was taken at Maryculter House Hotel, Nr Aberdeen Near where Logan runs his Photography business in Banchory. Visit www.deesidephoto.co.uk for more information

 Congratulations Logan!

2nd place photo of the yearOur second place goes to Alice Alves, at Alice Alves Photography based in South Lanarkshire. Alice's photograph is fun and spontaneous and really captures the joyous mood of the day.

Alice says " The couple were lovely and having fun on their wedding day. They had a humanist ceremony where they told a story of how they met and what they loved about each other. The Groom's Father is a retired wedding photographer which I didn't know about until the day so it could have been quite scary, but luckily he was too busy enjoying the day to be bothering about me!"

3rd place photo competitionVery closely followed in 3rd place is Julia Ford. Julia works with her 'husband to be' Ian West, at Modernphotographic based in Essex, although Julia works nationwide. Julia describes the photo as a beautiful natural moment. "It isnt posed, and the light is just perfect. It captures the only real thing that matters at a wedding... the marriage itself." On the subject of wedding photography and chosing a photographer Julia says "Long after your wedding is over you will still be pouring over your photographs, you will no doubt have seen generations from your families wedding photos, think of this when you book and when you allocate budget" See more of Julia's work at www.modernphotographic.co.uk.

4th place photo competitionIn position of 'runner up' is a photograph by Terry Lee of Tudor Photography in Clanfield, Oxfordshire. The reason Terry entered this photo into the competition is because he felt the image was captured during a spontaneous moment of the wedding. "It's very easy to get carried away and over-edit images following a wedding, but this is straight out of the camera and retains its natural feel. With the bride being a Fitness Instructor, the photograph seemed particularly apt!"
